The Trinidad Sour is a classic cocktail that originated in the Caribbean island of Trinidad. This drink is a variation of the traditional Whisky Sour, with the addition of Angostura bitters and a dash of grenadine syrup, which gives it a unique and complex flavor profile.

The Trinidad Sour is a simple and easy-to-make cocktail that can be enjoyed at any occasion. The ingredients for the Trinidad Sour are:

  • 2 oz of rye or bourbon whiskey
  • 3/4 oz of lime juice
  • 1/2 oz of grenadine syrup
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

To make the Trinidad Sour, start by filling a shaker with ice. Add the whiskey, lime juice, grenadine syrup, and Angostura bitters to the shaker. Shake the ingredients well for about 10-15 seconds to ensure that they are well-combined.

Next, strain the mixture into a chilled glass, and garnish with a lime wheel or cherry.

Directions

  1. Fill a shaker with ice
  2. Add 60ml/2oz of Whiskey
  3. Add 22ml/.75oz of Lime Juice

The Trinidad Sour has a unique flavor profile that is a combination of sweet, sour, and bitter flavors. The whiskey provides a strong and bold base, while the lime juice adds a tangy and refreshing sourness. The grenadine syrup adds a hint of sweetness, which is balanced out by the bitter notes of the Angostura bitters.

The Trinidad Sour has a rich history, and its origins can be traced back to the island of Trinidad. The island was once a major hub for the production of sugarcane, and as a result, grenadine syrup was widely used in local cocktails. The addition of grenadine syrup to the traditional Whisky Sour gives the Trinidad Sour its unique and distinctive flavor.

The Trinidad Sour is the perfect drink to enjoy during a hot summer day, or after-dinner.
