The Negroni is a classic Italian cocktail that has been around for over a century. The origins of the drink can be traced back to 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked a bartender in Florence, Italy to make a stronger version of his favorite cocktail, the Americano. The bartender, Fosco Scarselli, replaced the soda water in the Americano with gin and thus the Negroni was born.
The Negroni is a simple yet elegant cocktail that is made with three ingredients: gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari. The gin provides a strong base for the drink, while the sweet vermouth adds a touch of sweetness and complexity. The Campari, a bitter Italian liqueur, gives the drink its unique, bitter flavor and a striking red color.

The Negroni has also been a favorite among bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts, which has led to the creation of many variations of the classic recipe. Some popular variations include the Boulevardier, which replaces the gin with bourbon, and the Old Pal, which replaces the gin with rye whiskey.
One of the most popular variations of the Negroni is the Negroni Sbagliato, which translates to “incorrect Negroni”, the name comes from the fact that it was accidentally made with Prosecco instead of gin. The recipe is the same as the original, but with Prosecco instead of gin, making it a refreshing and lighter version of the classic.
The Negroni is a classic and timeless cocktail that has stood the test of time. It’s a perfect balance of bitter, sweet, and strong flavors that make it a perfect aperitif. Though it’s simple, it is a complex and elegant drink that is perfect for any occasion.
