The origins of the Pisco Sour can be traced back to the early 1900s in Peru. The story goes that Victor Vaughen Morris, an American bartender who had moved to Lima, Peru, created the cocktail. He was looking for a way to use the local pisco brandy in a cocktail, and decided to combine it with lime juice, sugar, and ice. The drink was an instant hit and quickly became the signature cocktail of Morris’ bar, the Morris Bar.
The name “Pisco Sour” refers to the main ingredient of the drink, which is pisco, a type of brandy that is made in Peru and Chile. Additionally, the drink is typically served in a short glass, often garnished with a few drops of Angostura bitters and a slice of lime.
