The Alexander cocktail is a classic drink that has been enjoyed for decades. It is a creamy, rich, and indulgent cocktail that is perfect for sipping on a cold winter evening or as an after-dinner treat.

The Alexander cocktail is made with gin, crème de cacao, and heavy cream. The gin provides a subtle juniper flavor that is balanced by the sweetness of the crème de cacao. The heavy cream gives the drink its creamy texture and adds a rich, indulgent flavor.

Directions

  1. Fill a shaker with ice
  2. Add 60ml/2oz of Gin
  3. Add 30ml/1oz of Crème de Cacao
  4. Add 30ml/1oz of Heavy Cream
  5. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  6. Sprinkle fresh ground nutmeg on top (Optional)

Some variations of the Alexander cocktail include replacing the gin with brandy for a Brandy Alexander, or using white crème de cacao for a White Alexander. Another variation is using dark crème de cacao for a Dark Alexander.

The Alexander cocktail has a long history, dating back to the early 20th century. It is said to have been created by a bartender named Preston Schreck at the Hotel Wallick in New York City. The drink was named after the hotel’s owner, Alexander.

The Alexander cocktail has stood the test of time and remains a popular choice among cocktail enthusiasts. Its creamy texture and rich, indulgent flavor make it a perfect after-dinner treat or a cozy winter sipper. Give it a try and discover why this drink has been a favorite for generations.
